VINCE CARTER the great, the good, the ugly
Vincent Lamar Carter has had himself a very up and down career that spans 20 years which started with being selected 5th overall in the 98 draft by the golden state warriors and immediately traded to Toronto for Antwan Jamison. Vince immediately joined his cousin Tracy mcgrady in Toronto and started Vince world wind with the first two years with Tracy and brought the nba in Toronto to the world starting with 2000 slam dunk competition.
From that moment lifted him to being the one and face of the nba while playing in Toronto with networks down south making sure to put on Vince Carter highlights on on a nightly bases because it attracted an audience which included boy named Kevin Durant to pick-up a basketball along with many Canadian boys who r in the nba now along with girls as well.
It was great until 2001 playoffs when he took a charter plane to chapel hill the morning of the 7th game of the eastern conference final to pick up his diploma from the university of north Carolina and got back to philly to play the game and would miss a buzzer beater to send the raptors to the eastern finals against the Milwaukee bucks to c who would face squa and kobe in the finals.
He would sign a max contract that summer but would never b the same player in Toronto I do not know if he could not handle fighting the pain in his legs or playing in Toronto just was not fun anymore. It got really embarrassing to watch him roll around on the floor time after time just to come jogging out of the locker room minutes. To me this is why I do noy like vince carter and why I feel that the raptors should not put his name in the rafters because it went on for just over 3 seasons. So the ugly vc in Toronto went on longer than the great vc in Toronto.
When he got traded to the nets he some how figured out to stay health and fight through pain and would b a star in new jersey but then after that he was able to check his ego at the door and become a roll player. Being able to adapt to being a roll player after being a superstar because guys like Tracy mcgrady and Allen Iverson when their skills faded they were unable to do what it took to keep playing while vince was able monitor and get into the gym to keep his muscles strong things he was not known to do in Toronto which makes him special.

raptors rid themselves of Demarre Carroll
Demarre Carroll came to the Raptors in the summer of 2015 as a defensive specialist from the Atlanta Hawks and earned himself a 4/60 million dollar contract.
Demarre Carroll for whatever reason forgot why he was bought in as he could not be that shutdown defender the raptors needed. It may have been the nagging injuries or it could of been him struggling to hit open 3-balls or both but something totally messed up his effort on d and made him a underachieving player on the second or third best team in the eastern conference. Raptors sent both of their own daft picks next season unless they really suck and do not make the playoffs to the Brooklyn Nets. They got back 31 million off their cap over the next 2 seasons and got back a back-up center Justin Hamilton whose a 3 million dollar contract wo will be waived.
Also the Raptors sent PG Cory Joseph to the Indiana Pacers for CJ Miles and signed Miles to a 3/25 million deal. So they take back 800 thousand for the next 2 seasons and then an extra season as joseph has 2 years left on his 4/30 million dollar deal. I feel that Joseph passed the ball more than Kyle Lowry and was not given the opportunity to finish games and just like Carroll he came in as defensive guy. Joseph was a replaceable guy and C.J. Miles could interfere with opponent shot as he average 3 blocks in 22 minutes a game.
All these deals are needed to help the Raptors get a little bit closer to the cap but still will be paying luxury taxs after bring back both Kyle Lowry and Serge Ibaka to 3 year deals. So it means if all goes well Serge and Kyle will be playing with DeMar DeRozan who has 3 years left on his 4 year deal he signed last summer. Serge will better the Raptors on d for a full season as he came in late in the season while also helping that knowledge sponge known as DeMar DeRozan become a better defender.
It all makes the team better because Ibaka can rub off on his teammates make them all better which makes the Raptors stay just behind team James (who hopefully will be heads west next summer) and in a battle for the division and the second seed in the east with the Boston Celtics.
