Raptors in love with the 3-balls

The Toronto Raptors who are very good 33-17 are way to conceded for their own good as they just like to jack up threes at anytime/anywhere. Lou Williams and Terrence Ross are the two biggest three-ball shooters on the Raptors with Lou averages 5.5 attempts in his 11.4 attempts a game in 24.5 while T-Ross has attempted 5 3's of his 10 attempts from the floor in 26.3 minutes. Lou Williams had 9 of the Raptors 33 attempts against the Brooklyn Nets in a 109-93 loss and only made one of them while T-Ross put up 11 3's and hit 5 of them but Lou had the only two assists in the game. Lou in a loss to the Bucks 82-75 put up 7 3's and made one and T-Ross put up 5 and made two as the Raps up 27 of 78 field attempts from beyond the arc. Even in an overtime win against the wizards Lou still put 7 of the 27 attempts and made only two of them while T-Ross put up only 3 of them hitting on of them and then overtime win against the Nets Lou put up 7 3's attempts and made 3 of them while T-Ross put 3 them and made one. So the Raps this season has put 25.3 attempts a game from beyond the arc of their 84.5 attempts from the floor while Jonas puts up 8 field goals attempted. The Raps have attempted 797 shoots between 5-14 feet and 344 (43%) of them while have put up 1270 3-balls and made 443 of them which is too many and it is also 163 short of the attempts going to the rim (1433) which is just over three a game. Simply put going to the basket of the 5 out comes possible (basket, basket plus shooting foul, shooting foul, missed shot, rebound) only a missed shot is not positive and much less likely than from 24 feet away. Going to the basket makes the d work harder and they are more likely to get in foul problems and the offence is more likely get to the charity strip where it is a player shooting the ball at the basket with no one in front of them along with it helps set your d going the other way. While 24 feet away you are going to miss at least 4 of 10 shoots, not going to the charity strip, and you are running back on d hoping to stay with your man so he does not get an easy basket. So if the raps do not share the rock more, take the ball to the rim, and stay with your man on d it will be a very short, disappointing playoffs in the T-dot Tom Mehegan
