Raptors get gonged by the Hawks and Joe Johnson

The Raptors stuck around with the Hawks as they were down 5 points 23-18 after the first quarter and then @ the half way point of the second quarter the Raptors were down 2 as Hawks lead 33-31 and then the Hawks outscored the Raptors 23-6 in the last half of the second quarter which ended with Joe Johnson hitting two 3-balls and a lay-up in the last 50.1 seconds and a 48-37 arm length lead into a 56-37 say goodnight folks lead. Joe Johnson had 24 of his 30 points in the first half with 12 in the first quarter and 12 in the second quarter and ended with 4 assists and two boards and was a very very very productive shooting game as he was 13 of 18 from the floor and 3 of 5 from beyond the arc. The Raptors had cut it to 12 62-50 with 6:42 left in the third quarter with Arron Grey had 4 boards in 5 and a half minutes to start the quarter and James Johnson had 3 boards and the Raptors went on a 13-6 run and the Hawks finished the quarter outscoring the Raps 15-10 and they lead 77-60. The Hawks outscored the Raptors 16-8 to start the quarter and they ended up with a 100-77 win where they shot 55.6% from the floor in the first three quarters and ended the game shooting 51.2% and were 7 of 18 from beyond the arc.

The Hawks got 10 points from Jeff Teague (5 assists, 3 boards), Marvin Williams (4 boards, 3 assists), and Zaza Pachulia (6 boards) while former Raptor Tracy McGrady had 15 points in the game and 4 boards.

The Raptors defense was not really good and the Hawks just tore them limb from limb but it was Ed Davis who fought hard for every inch of the court and took down 11 boards with the toughest one was one that he jumped in and got his hands on a ball with the Hawks' Ivan Johnson and it ended up a jump ball that Davis tipped to Barbosa. He was second in Raptors scoring behind Jerryd Bayless' 14 points and he had 2 assists and the Raps just ran into a much better team and just did not leave it all on the floor and make the Hawks work for their points and that is likely to happen with less than average skill set.

Celtics tomorrow @ the TD Garden
