First Quarter
Raptors come out and take a 10-4 with a lot of good energy and the Rockets fight back 12-7 but the Raptors still lead 17-16 while then the Raptors went on 12-0 run and go up 29-16 and finished with a Kleiza 3-ball to go into the second quarter 34-20 (+14). The Raptors were lead by Barbosa (10 points and a board) and Kleiza ( 5 points, 3 boards, 2 assists, and a steal) while Amir Johnson (4 points and 7 boards) had a good quarter but had 2 fouls in 6 minutes and Jose Calderon (4 assists) pass the ball around. The Rockets were lead Kevin Martin had 65% of the Rockets scoring in the quarter (13 of 20 points) while Luis Scola had 3 boards to lead them with rebounds.
Second Quarter
The Raptors have had really bad second quarters and have given up 40 + points in this quarter and the Rockets were treated to another of these horrible second quarter as the Rockets doubled the Raptors 42-21 which meant that the Raptors came in with a 14-point lead and left down 7 going into the half. The Rockets were allowed to go on huge runs which started with the first 9 points to get it down to 5 and then kept going on a 16-11 run to get it to 3 and then the Rockets took a 3-point lead but the Raptors faught back finally to tie it at 52. The Rockets went on a 10-3 run to end the quarter and to give the Rockets a 62-55 lead at half and were helped by their rebounding advantage in the quarter (15-5) along with the Raptors had 7 fouls in the quarter while the Rockets had only 2 which means that the Raptors did not attack the basket enough. The Raptors were lead by Linas Kleiza (8 points and 2 boards) and DeMar and Amir (2 boards and an assist in 5 minutes) both had 4 points in the quarter while the Rockets were lead by Chad Budinger (13 points along with a board, an assist, and a steal), Brad Miller (8 points, 3 boards, and 2 assists), Courtney Lee (7 points, 3 boards, 2 assists, and a steal),and Patrick Patterson (5 points and 6 boards) all off the bench.
Third Quarter
The Raptors could not get the basketball into the hoop and they tried because they had 30 shoots from the floor and only made 7 baskets and they had a number of their rebounds (22 in the quarter) on the offensive glass and went back up and could not get the basket on the second, third, or even the fourth chances. So they needed to go back up a lot stronger so that if they were not able to slam it into the basket they would of been sent to the line for free throw shots (eventhough the raptors had 8 free throw attempts in the quarter and 7 in the first half). Eventhough the Raptors could not finish the Rockets let them stay in the game as the Raptors went on a late 10-3 to get it down to 3 and then the Rockets ended the quarter with the last 6 points to take a 9-point lead. The Raptors were lead by DeMar DeRozan (2 boards) had 13 of the 19 points (5 of 7 from the line) and Joey Dorsey was able to get boards in the quarter (7 boards) but could not finish (5 offensive boards with only 1 point) along with Kleiza ( 4 boards with 2 offensive and no points) and Jose Calderon (2 points, 2 assists, 4 boards, and an offensive board). The Rockets were lead by Martin (7 points, a board, and a steal) snd Scola (7 points, 3 boards, and a block) went off in the quarter.
Fourth Quarter
The Raptors did not play very good defense and the rebounding that had kept the Raptors in the third quarter did not happen early in the quarter and the Rockets took a huge 16-point lead but the Raptors did faught back and got it back to 8 and almost less than that. The Raptors were lead by DeMar DeRozan (16 points and a board) along with Calderon (3 points, 3 assists, and 4 boards) and Kleiza (3 points, 3 boards, and an assist) and the Rockets were lead by Chase Budinger (7 points, 2 assists, and a board), Patrick Patterson (6 points and 4 boards), and Courtney Lee (5 points, a rebound, and an assist).
Final Thoughts
The Second Quarter was a huge disappointment and needs to stop because if use give up 40 + points in a quarter you will not win a game and the ability to not finish off their scoring chances in the third was troublesome as well but if the second was better the Raptors would of been in a good position to win the game. DeMar DeRozan had a career game with 37 and 16 in the fourth (5 of 7 from the line in the third and 6 for 6 from the line in the fourth) while Kleiza and Barbosa both had 17 points in the game but the 65 points from the Rockets bench. The Raptors needed to do more with their 53 rebounds (especially the 19 offensive boards) but Jose Calderon was back and played well as he had 11 assists and more opportant only 1 turnover and the Raptors will need Bargnani to return to action on Sunday aganist the Boston Celtrics.
See U Sunday
