Toronto Raptors Starters
F - Linas Kleiza F - Reggie Evans C - Andrea Bargnani
PG - Jarrett Jack SG - DeMar Derozan
Portland Trail Blazers Starters
F - LaMarcus Aldridge F - Nicolas Batun C - Marcus Camby
PG - Andre Miller SG - Brandon Roy
Trail Blazers starters are out working the Raptors starters on both ends
of the court and Kleiza is forcing shots and Bargnani has two quick fouls
and the Blazers has outscored 12-4 and the bench players come in and
turned around the game again. With Amir playing hard, Calderon
distrubuting the ball, and Barbosa going inside and going to the free throw line where the Raptors outscored the Blazers 9-4 in the quarter and ended the quarter 6-0 run to pull to 1 point disadvantage 18-17 to the Blazers going to the second quarter.
Second Quarter
Raptors get the first 2 points but then the Trail Blazers go on a 17-5 run to take a 11 point lead 35-24 and then the Raptors go on a 8-0 run to get it 35-32 before a Blazer timeout. The Blazers outscored the Raptors 10-2 to end the quarter to lead 45-34 and Brandon Roy lead the way for the Blazers with 13 in the quarter while Bargnani had 10 points and the other Raptors starters are 2 for 16 and the Raptors shot 27.8 in the first half and put up 9 3-balls where none of them went into the basket. Reggie Evans has 7 rebounds in the game and Amir Johnson snd Bargnani have 4 each in the half and the Raptors need to go to the basket and forget about 3-balls along with better production from DeRozen, Kleiza, and Jack to make a run to win the game in the second half.
Third Quarter
Tired and lazy Raptors settle for jumpers and they are not even going inside towards the basket and they fall down 69 - 46 and then after the Raptor timeout they go on a 13 - 4 run to end the third quarter and they need to be more focused even on a back to back. They will have a hard time coming back from a 73-59 disadvantage going into the fourth quarter if they settle for shots while whatever the Blazers have wanted they have gotten throughout the game so far.
Fourth Quarter
The Raptors started the fourth quarter with a 6-0 run but then went back to jumpers and missed 3-balls atleast until Jack kept the curse alive with a made 3-ball with less than 3 minutes left in the game. After this point the Blazers outscored the Raptors 19-4 in the next 6:51 and then raptors ended the game 14-5 run so the Blazers end up winning 97-83 as the Blazers went to the basket at will and the Raptors settled for jumpers for the most part of the game.
Final Thoughts
The Portland Trail Blazers should get a lot of credit for doing something that wins a lot of basketball games throughout the league which is going to the basket. With Brandon Roy having 26 points, LaMarcus Aldridge having 22 points, Nicolas Batun having 20 points who combined went 3 for 9 with 3-balls and that made up for only 9 of their combined 68 points in the game. While the Raptors went 1 for 17 on 3-ball attempts and on another note DeMar DeRozen went 1 for 10 from the field without a 3-ball attempt but also he did not shot a free throw either in the game. While Kleiza shot as many 3-balls (0 for 4) as free throws (2 for 4) and had only 6 points in 23 minutes. While Bargnani (8 rebounds), Evans (9 rebounds), and Johnson (7 rebounds) were somewhat active on the boards but could have done better and Jarrett Jack lead the team with only 16 points but he did not pass the ball (only 2 assists) and he is your starting point guard. Who is usually the guy on the court that is setting up the points for the team by passing the ball around to other guys and finally a 2 for 1 ratio for free throws to 3-balls attempted is not good but now they come home where they need to play an all around game which they did not do on their 0 for 4 road trip.
